T-Pain is Coming!
T-Pain is Coming! Every April for the last three years, Illinois has held a free outdoor concert on the Main Quad for all students. The concert is called Spring Jam, and its starting to become a tradition. The event is always FREE! It has typically featured a popular artist, and in the past, they have hosted the likes of Post Malone, Timeflies, Hoodie Allen and B.o.B. This year, it was announced that T-Pain will be performing on Sunday, April 29th! The event is planned by the Illini Union Board, the State Farm Center (campus sports and performance arena) and Star Course, which is the Registered Student Organization that has been responsible for getting musicians to come perform for campus. On the note of Star Course, if you are interested in music or event planning, this is an great organization to join. You get to be involved in all parts of the concert planning experience, from selling tickets to choosing what musicians come to campus to perform. Artists from all over the country love performing for Illinois students, and Illinois students often get discount prices to see these artists. Artists simply love college students like us! Check out Star Courses website here for more information here. For now, students are really excited to see T-Pain, who was a popular RB and Pop artist when a lot of us were in middle and high school. Illini are looking forward to hearing his most popular songs and singing along. Theres usually great weather on the Sunday afternoon performances that these artist have come, so its always a fun experience. Also, there are usually hundreds of students that come to the Quad to witness the free concert, and Im expecting the same for April 29th. Im totally going to go with all my friends for this awesome experience! Source: Facebook Daniel Class of 2018 Iâm an Advertising major in the College of Media. The Role Of Confessions And Creeds On The s The Creedal...
There is much debate within evangelicalism about the role of confessions and creeds. In ââ¬Å"The Creedal Imperativeâ⬠, Carl Trueman addresses this by stating his belief that confessions and creeds are ââ¬Å"vital to the present and future well-being of the churchâ⬠through life and through worship (13). Trueman finds it important to argue that confessions and creeds fall in line with the belief that Scripture alone is the main source of revelation and authority, yet also noticing the synthetic and public nature of these documents. Trueman begins chapter one by addressing three cultural assumptions. These are: the past is important, language should be used to communicate truth, and the church should teach and enforce creeds and confessions. Inâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦Truemanââ¬â¢s central point of his biblical basis is Paulââ¬â¢s words to Timothy. Paul says, ââ¬Å"Follow the pattern of sound words that you have heard from me, in the faith and love that are in Jesus Christâ⬠(2 Timothy 1:13). Trueman provides scriptural argument that the Bible demands we have forms of sound words to pass the gospel and tradition on to future generations, and the creeds are the best way of doing that. This indicates error in the idea the Bible is our only necessary creed. In chapter three, Trueman uses historical components to make his arguments and show the development of the creeds. Chapter three introduces the history of creeds and confessions through the early church by outlining the ecclesiological developments in discussing the Rule of Faith, the Apostleââ¬â¢s Creed, and the creeds of the ecumenical councils. Two unusual ideas were, ââ¬Å"the fact that the early church developed them in the first place and the early church creeds focus on the most basic building blocks of faithâ⬠(104-105). Trueman states that the forms of sound words are what make up the creeds and showcase power over the non-Christian world. Trueman also addresses the Apostleââ¬â¢s creed, stating that it is not a Trinitarian doctrine due to inadequate detail on the doctrine of God. This indicates the focus on Christââ¬â¢s identity and not just content that relates to Christians only.

The Cultural And Psychological Topic That I ve Chosen Is...
Introduction The cultural and psychological topic that Iââ¬â¢ve chosen is male depression. Male Depression is a condition that currently impacts the lives of one in ten American men at one point or another. Depression varies in its severity throughout different cultures, and it is progressively becoming more and more of a significant health concern worldwide. While a 10% prevalence of depression among men in the U.S. may seem relatively high, it is important to note that this figure encompasses all types of depression. Many males suffering from depression experience occasional bouts of the condition over a lifetime, usually brought on by a specific situation or major life event. Symptoms Some men will experience it only after major lifeâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦As well as the severity of the condition experienced by each individual. Some people get psychotherapy, while others also take antidepressants or seek alternative treatments. Exercise can also play a significant role in helping to treat depression in males. There are also alternative options that your doctor may suggest such as brain stimulation techniques such as electroconvulsive therapy, transcranial magnetic stimulation, or vagus nerve stimulation. For those with bipolar depression, doctors may prescribe different types of medications, such as mood-stabilizing drugs or certain antipsychotic medicines, instead of antidepressants. Nonetheless every male is different, so it may take some trial and error for them to find the ideal treatment for their condition. Situational vs. Severe Depression One distinction that is made amongst the psychological community when it comes to depression is the difference between situational and severe recurring depression. Situational depression is a short-term form of depression that can occur in the aftermath of various traumatic events in oneââ¬â¢s life, including divorce, retirement, loss of a job and the death of a relative or close friend. Doctors sometimes refer to the condition as adjustment disorder. A person with situational depression may have symptoms that are more or less identical to someone with clinical depression; however, there are certain key differences between the effects and

World Influence On The Modernization Of Africa Essays -
World Influence on the Modernization of Africa World Influence on the Modernization of Africa Developing Political Systems The way countries, nations or states act and base their policies on many times reflect what their past was like. This is very true in the case of Africa. The only problem is that Africa is said to have no history. This just means that Africa's many cultures did not affect the way imperialists and other influences acted towards the huge continent. Everything was based on their interests and consequently this meant that the way of dealing with Africa in every way was based on Western traditionalists. To this we must answer the question how has the Western World affected Africa's present stage and what must be done to undo what is wrong and hopefully correct this situation. Africa first played a role in Europe's and the America's history when the U.S. and Great Britain needed labor. They needed a lot of it and they needed it cheap. There was nothing cheaper than free labor. It would require an initial investment to African "leaders" but it paid off almost instantaneously. This is what we used to call slave trading. In around the 1860's this became an illegal act. However, like any other crime, this trading could not be stopped entirely. British Naval ships were set up as blockades but sometimes Slaves were stored in spaces that were no higher than 12 inches so not all slave carrying boats could be stopped. In fact while the Navy stopped approximately 103,000 slaves from entering the slave force about 1.7 million entered it. Since this trade was illegal it was even more profitable than before. The slaves that were stopped from being shipped all the way west were being sent to Freetown, Sierra Leone and Monrovia, Liberia and they were called recaptives. These were towns set up by the British and some liberal Americans to send former slaves and recaptives back to their home continent. It wasn't their home but it certainly was a lot closer than before. These recaptives were not welcome with open arms because they had renounced their religions and African names and replaced them with Christianity and English names. They did this because they felt they had been betrayed when they were sold in the first place. There was even more hostility to these recaptives because they spoke English and the British, along with the rest of Europe, were the ones starting to take over Africa politically. When Europe came into power they took their English speaking, Christian modernizers and put them in charge of the newly colonized countries. Africa was colonized by Europe by countries such as Great Britain and France, which one can still see evidence of today. This was done at the Berlin Conference. The only two countries not directly colonized where Ethiopia for somewhat religious and Biblical reasons and Liberia, which had a legitimate government and this way the West would not have to directly imperialists the country but could just tell the leaders what, they wanted. The leaders obliged in return for not being colonized. When first colonized the many cultures languages and religions were not considered. Consequentially many opposing people came to live in the same state and this resulted in bloody hatred and eventually civil wars in many of these countries. Europe did not realize how many different nations there were in Africa when they were dividing it up amongst themselves. They just wanted to colonize and wanted equal shares for each other. Possible tension did not enter the minds of these colonizers and even if did it did not severely alter any decisions. In fact it was better for them if no group had a majority in a region because this would lessen the chance of a revolution. The peripheral countries of these new African boundaries usually did what the European core countries did. They wanted to enhance their status quo. The peripheral countries were heavily exploited. Their raw materials were taken from them relatively cheaply made into sellable products and sold to the world and back to Africa at high prices. At this rate Africa's economy would never go up and would probably even go down. Since agriculture was its only source of income not much more could be done. Many people question why Africa did not use its raw materials to make its own processed finished products. The answer is that there was heavy discrimination against this idea by the West. If Africa tried to use their cocoa to make their own chocolate the Swiss, for example, would say

In To kill a mockingbird, things are not always as they seem essays
In To kill a mockingbird, things are not always as they seem essays TOPIC: In the novel, To Kill a Mockingbird, things are not always as they seem. Discuss. Atticus, he was real nice. Most people are, Scout, when you finally see them. This is perhaps one of the strongest issues brought up in the novel, To Kill a Mockingbird. The hundreds of pages in this novel come together to form an intricate web of incontestable evidence pointing towards the fact the humans come, see, and conquer. They do not look behind, or further to see the real thing, the real thing that they just destroyed to gain for themselves power and supremacy. Whether it be a person or an issue in society, people hear and believe what other people say, and do not investigate for themselves. In this essay I will endeavour to provide that incontestable evidence and further support Harper Lees view on society. Atticus is one of the main characters in the story. He is the father of Jem and Scout (Jean Louise), and the lawyer defending Thomas Robinson in the case. As a father, Jem and Scout dont feel that Atticus is good at anything except reasoning with people and making sense out of things. This is shown when Jem is extremely upset and angry with his father when he will not play football for the Methodists. Atticus excuse is that he is too old and that he would not survive a football match. Scout is also upset and questions Calpurnia about Atticus. Atticus will also not buy or allow Jem to have a gun, as he is aware of the temptations of young boys Jems age. Their opinions of Atticus change when there is a rabid dog in their street. Heck Tate comes to inspect the dog and Atticus is with him. When Mr. Tate realise that he will not be able to shoot the dog from that distance, he requests Atticus to do it for him. Atticus takes the dog with one shot and Jem and Scout are astounded. Miss Mau die grinned wickedly. Well now, Miss Jean Louise, she said, Still t...

Converting Cubic Inches to Cubic Centimeters
Converting Cubic Inches to Cubic Centimeters Cubic inches (in3) and cubic centimeters (cc or cm3) are common units of volume. Cubic inches is a unit used primarily in the United States, while cubic centimeters is a metric unit. This example problem demonstrates how to convert cubic inches to cubic centimeters. Cubic Inches to Cubic Centimeters Problem Many small car engines have an engine displacement of 151 cubic inches. What is this volume in cubic centimeters? Solution: Start with the conversion unit between inches and centimeters. 1 inch 2.54 centimetersThat is a linear measurement, but you need a cubic measurement for volume. You cannot simply multiply this number times 3! Instead, you form a cube in three dimensions. You may remember the formula for volume is length x width x height. In this case, length, width, and height are all the same. First, convert to cubic measurements:(1 inch)3 (2.54 cm)31 in3 16.387 cm3Now you have the conversion factor between cubic inches and cubic centimeters, so youre ready to complete the problem.Set up the conversion so the desired unit will be canceled out. In this case, we want cubic centimeters to be the remaining unit.volume in cm3 (volume in in3) x (16.387 cm3/1 in3)volume in cm3 (151 x 16.387) cmââ¬â¹3volume in cm3 2474.44 cm3Answer:A 151 cubic inch engine dispaces 2474.44 cubic centimeters of space. Cubic Centimeters To Cubic Inches You can reverse the direction of the volume conversion easily enough. The only trick is to make sure the correct units cancel out. Lets say you want to convert a 10 cm3 cube into cubic inches. You can use the volume conversion from earlier, where 1 cubic inch 16.387 cubic centimeters volume in cubic inches 10 cubic centimeters x (1 cubic inch / 16.387 cubic centimeters)volume in cubic inches 10 / 16.387 cubic inchesvolume 0.610 cubic inches The other conversion factor you could have used is: 1 cubic centimeter 0.061 cubic inches It does not matter which conversion factor you choose. The answer will come out the same. If youre not sure youre doing the problem correctly, you could work it both ways to check yourself. Check Your Work You should always check your work to make sure the resulting answer makes sense. A centimeter is a smaller length than an inch, so there are many cubic centimeters in a cubic inch. A rough approximation would be to say there are about 15 times more cubic centimeters than cubic inches. A value in cubic inches should be much smaller than its equivalent value in cubic centimeters (or, a number in cc should be over 15 times bigger than the number given in cubic inches). The most common mistake people make doing this conversion is not cubing the value being converted. Dont multiply it by three or add three zeros to it (three factors of ten). Cubing a number is multiplying it by itself three times. The other potential error is in reporting the value. In scientific calculations, its important to watch the number of significant digits in an answer.
